Fiber Optic Cabling on Marina Street, Lagos
Client: IPNX
Location: Marina Street, Lagos, Nigeria
Project Completion: 2010
Project Overview
In 2010, FEGMATECH spearheaded the deployment of fiber optic cabling on Marina Street, Lagos, for IPNX, with the objective of enhancing connectivity and enabling advanced digital infrastructure across the financial institutions in the area. This installation was a cornerstone for establishing a Passive Optical Network (PON), designed to deliver high-speed internet, increased data bandwidth, and seamless network services to multiple banking branches along Marina Street.
Scope of Work
This project was a pioneering effort in deploying fiber optic infrastructure in Lagos, enhancing both speed and reliability for critical financial services. By installing high-capacity fiber cabling and establishing an optimized network hub, this project successfully laid the foundation for a modern, scalable network solution that could adapt to growing demands.

Scope of Work
- Core Fiber Installation We implemented two robust runs of 96-core fiber cabling. This installation connected the central outdoor cabinet located beside NITEL to a new Point of Presence (POP) site for IPNX. This cabinet and POP setup provided the necessary infrastructure backbone for PON, ensuring efficient data flow and minimal latency across all connected branches.
- Bank Branch Connectivity A designated bank branch was connected as determined by IPNX, making it an initial point of access for the PON network. This setup allowed for scalable, fiber-based connections across additional branches in the future, supporting secure and reliable communication.
